Soundproofing is often overlooked… until you hear footsteps, conversations, or pipes in the walls. However, when starting your renovation project, a few good habits can significantly reduce noise.

Here are the methods we offer our customers for durable and effective soundproofing.

1. Double walls
Building two separate walls (with an air gap or insulation between them) is an excellent way to prevent sound vibrations from being transmitted.

2. Mineral wool insulation

Mineral wool insulation is installed inside walls or floors and effectively absorbs sound. Unlike standard thermal insulation wool, it is denser and more effective at reducing noise.

3. Acoustic panels or anti-vibration membranes

Some projects require advanced solutions: acoustic gypsum panels, resilient bars, or membranes. These are installed in addition to insulation to prevent sound from traveling through the various materials in your home.

4. Sealing of joints

Small details matter: electrical outlets, switches, door frames… All these areas are weak points for sound. It is therefore possible to seal them with acoustic sealant or specific boxes.

5. Doors and floors

For better sound insulation, we recommend choosing solid doors (non-hollow) in sensitive areas. And for floorboards, an acoustic underlay beneath the finishing materials can make a real difference.

To summarize:

Good sound insulation cannot be seen… but it can be heard. When building or opening up walls, it is the right time to make the right technical choices.
